Guest Post:

Today we welcome Laura DeLuca to my blog. Laura is the author of Brigid's Flame from The Celtic Tapestry anthology. She's sharing a simple spell that you too can do at home..

Brigid’s Flame was inspired by my patron goddess, Brigid. She is the goddess of poetry, smith craft and childbirth.  In my story, a struggling writer invokes Brigid on the sacred night of Imbolc to help rekindle his creativity with her eternal flame.  The chant my hero uses in one I wrote myself and have used many times to help overcome writers block.

“Brigid, I call you on this sacred night.
I summon your flame. I invoke your might.
The words will come. My mind will soar.
My strength and confidence will endure.
Goddess Brigid, fill me with creativity.
As I will it, so mote it be.”

Here is a simple spell anyone can use along with the chant to help bring some inspiration into their lives.  All
you need is a candle (preferably orange or yellow, but white can also be used), a bowl, and a few ice cubes. If available, snow or icicles would be even better.  Set the items up on your altar or some other space where you have privacy. Place the ice cubes or snow into the bowl and light your candle.  Star into the flame and focus of what you are trying to accomplish. Imagine that the ice is your creativity. Right now it’s frozen and blocked.  Now see that flame warming the ice, melting away those blocks. Continue this visualization as you chant the spell.  Once the ice has melted it, drink the water. This is your creativity flowing freely back into you.

Celtic Tapestry Anthology

The wheel of the year turns, bringing the joy of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, and the merriment of winter. But eight Celtic festivals link these seasons together, bringing with them romance, lust, danger, and even magic. From a city under threat from night-time creatures at Ostara, to a selkie caught by the light of the Lughnasadh moon, to a writer caught in the flames of a fiery goddess at Imbolc.

Eight authors have come together to give their own twist on these festivals, weaving each story with a blend of myth, magic, and contemporary telling…to create A Celtic Tapestry

Crimson Beat--Elle J Rossi
In Nashville, Ostara night is filled with monsters...and only one woman can take them on.

Beltane Fires--Livia Ellis
Deep in the Irish countryside, a witch takes over as Mother of her coven. Will a 'wink at the moon' love spell give her what she most wants?

Blade's Magic--Carolyn Wolfe
Midsummer celebrations are going as usual for one magical young woman, until she comes into contact with Max Blade--a man from another dimension.

Shore's Edge--Tara S Wood
Lammas beckons in Ireland in the year 1170, bringing with it war. Will one feisty young woman have to marry the man she hates most, or will the Gods bring her another answer?

The Picnic--ElodieParkes
The woods near Morgan's home are under threat. But will salvation come for the woods--and himself--in the form of a beautiful environmental officer?

Shadows in the Dark--Miranda Stork
A surprising past life regression opens up a new world for one young woman...but it also throws her at the mercy of an unknown Shadow Man.

Magic in Memphis--Hunter S Jones
Memphis. The favourite place of a hard working public-relations employee, whose life is good, but without surprise...until she has a chance meeting with James Wellington on Yule night, throwing her world upside-down.

Brigid's Flame--Laura DeLuca

Waiting Waiting Waiting... Arrrgh!

Okay, in case you haven't yet worked it out, I'm not very good at waiting. (Gee, I bet that was news to some of you out there, right?)

At this very moment in time, I have a book out for submission. It's only been just over a week, but ... nothing yet. A week isn't a long time. Not really. But.... I just want to know, right? You get that, don't you? (I have always said if I can keep reminding myself, it might just come true!)

So what do you do while you wait to hear from a publisher, a crit partner or anything...

There are lots of things we can do - and yes, I'm working my way through my list at the moment! It's not comprehensive. It's not meant to be... But it's a start. And I bet you could add another 3 or 4 things off the top of your head.

  • Take a break and read a book. Recharge your creative batteries.
  • Start a new story. Argh, I have so many to work on at the moment, including some that are started and others that are little more than a plan in my brain.
  • Research. If you know the concepts for your next book, start on the research.
  • Go have lunch/dinner with friends. This is your downtime. Embrace it.
  • Chat with other authors. Remember most of the time we are "bums on seats, hands on keyboards" which makes us almost anti-social. Get out there and socialise, you never know, it may lead to lifelong friendships!
  • Spend time with the family... Kids, husbands and even wives will appreciate your attention. So go on, lavish it on them!
  • Stop fretting (This is something I do very poorly - and have to keep working on it.)
  • Clean the house... (Oh dear, this is something I like to avoid as much as possible - Cause by this time it's really built up)

At the end of the day, there are plenty of ways to avoid stalking your inbox. I make myself only look hopefully at the beginning of each day. It helps me to contain my own anxieties.

Until next time,

Happy Writing

Inn For The Holidays

Inn For The Holidays by Ella Jade

Innkeepers Logan and Elyse Cole have been making people’s fantasies a reality for the past six months at their popular bed and breakfast. While running Pleasure Inn has been a rewarding experience for the happy couple, it also requires long hours and busy weekends. Catering to their guests’ whims and fantasies doesn’t leave much free time for the Coles. They need a few days to reconnect and indulge in their own fantasies.

Logan makes that happen with a surprise gift to his wife. He reserves the inn for just the two of them several days before Christmas. Two nights of uninterrupted romance is exactly what this couple needs. Logan reminds Elyse what drew her to him in the first place. He vows to make good on his promise to always make all of her fantasies a reality.

She wants nothing more than for the Master of the Inn to make an appearance this holiday season.

A Pleasure Inn series short, featuring Logan and Elyse from Master of the Inn. All books in this series can stand alone and/or can be read in any order.

Content Warning – Graphic sex and explicit language.

Excerpt

Logan took her chin between his fingers and shot her his signature intense glare. The very stare that had her
obeying his every command between the sheets. Logan was Dominant to the core. It was his Dominance that drew her to him in the first place. When he offered her the opportunity to relinquish control and let go intimately, all of her desires had been fulfilled. He had awakened a sexual awareness in Elyse that brought her the most pleasure she had ever experienced.

“Trust me,” he whispered never taking his gaze away from hers.

“I do.”

“Good girl.” He brushed his lips against hers. “You’ve been extremely busy. You’re working so hard to get this place perfect. They only reason we are as successful as we are is because of your attention to detail and the satisfaction you bring our guests.”

“We did this together.”

Logan had transformed the old place into its former glory and then some. He worked non-stop tending to the grounds. He made sure everything inside was in perfect working condition. Not a door squeaked or a loose floorboard could be found. There were several rooms that he had yet to tackle but they were in his plans for the new year. The upcoming year was going to be big for them. They were even starting to get repeat customers. With the new rooms underway, they’d be able to take on more than two couples at a time on any given weekend.

“I know but with Christmas just around the corner, you’ve had extra things to do. You worry about getting us through the holidays and I’ll take care of everything else.”

“How did I get so lucky to find you?”

“You stumbled onto my porch one night and I felt compelled to take you in.”

“You insisted, if I remember correctly.”

“What can I say? I have good taste.” He ran his tongue along her lips. “Kiss me.”

She threw her arms around his neck and parted her mouth allowing him access. He held her tight against his masculine form, exploring her long and hard. When he finally stopped kissing her, the room spun and she had to catch her breath.

“Feel better?” he asked, already knowing the answer.

“I’m always calmer when you’re around.”

“I’m going to get that bath ready.” When he took a step back, she could see the excitement bulging against his jeans. “You have five minutes.”

“Or what?”

“It’s been a while since I’ve taken you over my knee.”

“Too long. I might have to be a few minutes late.” She teased.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” He shook his head as he allowed his gaze to take in her body. “I don’t want to waste any time tonight with frivolous punishments.”

But I love those provoked punishments. “I have a fantasy that needs fulfilling.” She hoped he got the hint. “We are, after all, in the business of making that happen.”

“Indeed.” He pulled his shirt over his head, revealing his defined six-pack abs to her.

She reached out, running her hand down his chest and over his rock hard stomach. He sucked in a breath when she unbuckled his belt.

“What would you wish for if you were a guest this weekend?” He watched as she toyed with his belt.

“If I were staying here, looking to reconnect and spend some quiet time with my husband, I would request that the Master of the Inn make an appearance.”

“Really?” He arched a brow as she unbuttoned his jeans. “I think that could be arranged in the very near future.”

The timer on the oven buzzed, interrupting their conversation. It figures! “I have to get that.” She walked over to the oven not wanting her cookies to burn. “I’ll be up in a few minutes to finish what you started, Mr. Cole.”

“Five.” He swatted her backside. “I’m not in a patient mood, Mrs. Cole.”

A Bite of ... Pepper Anthony

Amber’s Fantasy by Pepper Anthony

Imogene: I have with me today erotic author Pepper Anthony, who’s here to dish about her newest IR scorcher, AMBER’S FANTASY. Pepper, what made you want to be an author of erotic books?

Pepper: I didn’t start off that way. I’ve always wanted to write small town romances, a la Harlequin Special Edition. A couple of years back, while I was waiting on the results of the Golden Heart® judging, a friend dared me to write a short erotic story for an anthology. I channeled my inner bad girl, wrote the story under this pen name, it got published (thrill!), and I’ve never looked back.

Imogene: Why did you choose the niche of Interracial Romance?

Pepper: I had read a few and they appealed to me personally. There’s something about adding that extra little “forbidden love” component to the story line that makes the ending even sweeter. Not that I think there is anything at all forbidden about interracial dating or marriage. Love is love, in my opinion. But I do enjoy exploring the idea of crossing racial or cultural boundaries. The book I’m writing right now will feature a Native American hero and an African American heroine.

Imogene: Can you tell us a little about AMBER’S FANTASY? What is her fantasy anyway?

Pepper: With Amber, I wanted to focus on the idea that we all have sexual fantasies we usually keep hidden, that we would never dare to act out. In this case, Amber limits herself to reading about her fantasy, like most of us do. When a sexy guy she works with stumbles across her book collection, he’s intrigued -- as most guys would be -- and offers her the chance to act out her fantasy. Once he puts the idea in her head, she begins to imagine it really happening too.

Imogene: Sounds hot. But you still haven’t told us what her fantasy is.

Pepper: The cover says it all. She thinks it would be super sexy to be with two guys at once. All her personal fantasies center on that theme. But again, it’s not something she ever thinks will actually happen.

Imogene: And does it?

Pepper: LOL. You’ll have to read the book to find out. Here’s a clue. I’m a big believer in true love and a happy ending. Each couple has to find their own way there, and that’s what makes us love reading romance. I’ve enjoyed talking with you. Thank you so much for having me today!

Amber’s Fantasy, by Pepper Anthony

Publisher: Beachwalk Press

Release Date: 11/18/2013

Tagline: If you had the chance to act out your secret fantasy, would you dare?

Blurb:

Ray Ferris is the first person to discover Amber Jackson’s naughty secret desires.
While helping her move some boxes, he stumbles on her stash of erotic romances featuring ménages. Despite a strict company policy prohibiting co-workers from dating, Amber finds herself inexorably drawn to Ray. She’s never been attracted to a white man before, but his intriguing invitation to actually have sex with two men at one time captivates her imagination. When the barriers to their relationship are swept away, will Amber have the courage to finally act out her forbidden fantasy? And if she does, will the experience open doors to a whole new world, or cost her a chance at true love?

Content Warning: contains scenes of explicit sexual activity

Genres: Erotic Contemporary Romance/Interracial Romance/ Ménage

Excerpt:

Ray didn’t dare let go of Amber’s hand. He knew the modest, uptight Amber still had a death grip on the sexy, more confident woman he’d made love to earlier that evening. At any moment she might get cold feet and run back to the safety of the bathroom. Once they got started though, he hoped she’d get caught up in the sensual game. By the end of the evening she’d know for sure if this is what she really wanted.

But could he count on Cal to follow through? His cousin had been initially shocked, but it hadn’t taken much to talk him into playing his part, especially when Ray assured him that Amber would be directing things.

To tell the truth, he was relieved about that as well. The only kind of threesome he’d ever imagined himself being involved in featured two women, not two men. He didn’t have a clear idea of how this all should go. Since it was Amber’s favorite fantasy, he was counting on her knowing exactly how to choreograph the whole thing.

They came around the corner to find Cal standing like a deer in the headlights in the center of the living room. God, maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all. His cousin’s expression was strained at the least, his fists clenched, eyes darting anywhere but at the two of them. Ray felt Amber’s resistant tug on his hand and knew if they all stood around and thought about this any longer, it wasn’t going to happen.

He quickly pulled Amber into his arms and kissed her, using his tongue to plunder her mouth in a way that was meant to reawaken the sensual woman who had just shared his bed. For a moment she was stiff and self-conscious in his arms, but gradually she softened and began to kiss him back. He dared to put his hand on her ass and drag her shirt up just a little, knowing Cal would be able to see the rounded globes of her lovely brown skin. He also knew that Amber would realize Cal could see.

She froze again.

“You’re so beautiful. So sexy,” he whispered in her ear. “I can’t keep my hands
off you.”

She stared up at him, and he smiled at her and kissed her again. A small moan broke from her throat as she responded, quivering in his arms. They all heard the sound. Cal was watching them now, his expression avid. Ray moved his hands up her back, dragging the shirt higher.

“Tell us what you want, Amber.”

She glanced over at Cal for the first time, and then closed her eyes. Her cheeks were highly colored.

“Um, no shirts.” He could barely hear her.

Cal stripped out of his dress shirt in record time and flung it on the floor.

“What else, baby?” He rained small kisses along her hairline as he massaged her back and let the tips of his fingers brush across her naked ass. “Do you want Cal to touch you too? Or just watch us?”

“Oh God. I don’t know about this.” She started to pull away.

“I do. I know you want it. We want it for you, baby. Come on. Relax and enjoy
yourself.”
She nodded, but then she dropped her gaze and just stood there motionless. Ray held his breath and watched a storm of expressions cross her lovely face. Things were not looking very promising. Suddenly she turned back to Cal.

“Come stand behind me, okay?”

Cal circled around them and took his place.

“Up closer,” she prompted. “Now take hold of my upper arms.” She let out a gasp when his fingers touched her arms. She glanced over her shoulder toward him. “Tighter. So I can’t—escape.”

Cal’s hands firmly banded her upper arms and pulled back so that her breasts made saucy points against the fabric of the shirt. Ray licked his lips as Amber gave another broken moan and closed her eyes.

“Oh God,” she gasped. “Ray. Please. Touch me. Everywhere.”

Author Bio:

Like most writers, I've worn quite a collection of hats over the years ~ voice actor, artist, bookkeeper, retail sales ~ but I've always wanted to be a writer. My biggest dream was to see my name on a book cover. Now, with the advent of e-publishing, the covers may be virtual, but the thrill of seeing my name on them is real. I am so humbled by the idea that my stories might draw in a reader and provide her an hour or two of
entertainment.

I've been married to my best friend Tom for thirty years. Together we've raised two amazing sons, and recently welcomed our first grand daughter, Leona Mae. Most days you can find me at our family's computer repair shop in a small town outside Portland, Oregon. At night I go home to my rambling fixer-upper in the woods and toil at my writing, assisted by a small menagerie of furry assistants. I love it when a reader takes a moment to reach out and let me know what she thinks of my stories. I hope you'll feel free to email me or leave a comment on my website.

A Bite Of... Larisa Anderson

Today, fellow Beachwalk Press author, Larisa Anderson has joined me to chat about her experience of writing Paranormal Romance. So join me in making her welcome...

Writing Paranormal

I never set out to write paranormal romances. They tend to take shape when I realise that my hero is a werewolf or vampire. This tends to happen by itself. At the start of Taming the Hunted, my current book, Gabriel was just a regular guy. It wasn’t until he tried to control her mind that I realised I was venturing into paranormal. Then I realised that he was a pack leader for sure! Such an annoying alpha. Anyway, my point is that I am a paranormal author but to me this is just a contemporary story with a werewolf. I know that genres are separated for a reason, it helps the reader to know what the book will be about. But I also have to wonder if this separation is a good thing? We tend to find a genre we love and stick with it. If this book was classed as a suspense, would paranormal readers pick it up? Would they even know that it has a hunky werewolf in it? This division is essentially telling readers what they should read. Hey you like vampires, well then you will love this.

Personally I think there needs to be a whole new classification system. You enter three books that you love and it generates a read list for you. Like what iTunes does for songs. Amazon currently tells you that those who bought this book also bought these. 9/10 times I will click on those other titles because I think, hey, my people liked this book so I might like other things they do too. The best thing that ever happened to me when I was growing up was finding a friend who had very similar reading taste to me. If I liked a book I would hand it over to her to read and vice versa. It didn’t matter what genre it was, it was the writing style that got us.

So when I say that I’m a paranormal Romance author I say it with a grain of salt. I like to think of myself for as a funny, whitty writer who sometimes writes paranormal. But then again I have never fit in a mould well. I’m a librarian, a blackbelt and I like knitting. I look like a sweet little girl but write Erotic romance. My sister takes great pleasure in showing people my picture then telling them what I write and watching their expression and disbelief. They say, Don’t judge a book by its cover, well I say don’t judge a book by its genre. How about you? Ever read outside your comfort zone and been pleasantly surprised?

Taming the Hunted:

Hunting just got hotter.

Marian is a hunter of night creatures. She stalks and stakes vampires, isn't afraid of the odd silver bullet if a werewolf turns rogue, and is perfectly content with her complete lack of social life.

When a staking goes wrong, a handsome, mesmerizing man comes to Marian's rescue. But Gabriel isn't what he seems to be. After Marian loses consciousness she awakes to find herself in a house filled with werewolves.

If she can survive the night she might discover that sometimes opposites attract in the best ways. Now if she could just silence that irritating little voice in the back of her mind that keeps reminding her that hunters are supposed to kill creatures of the night, not date them.

A Bar In Paris... Time to Celebrate

It's here... Finally! This book is one that I sweated over... Slaved to write.

Was I sure? No. when I wrote a Bar In Paris I was so scared. It was my first ever written in First Person (as in "I" was doing the actions.) When I got to the sexier scenes... well, it was a little but embarrassing!

So here I am, at the computer... coughing, sneezing and ready to take oldest daughter out again!  (Nothing really quite goes to plan, you know?)

So here it is:

A Bar In Paris:
Ever considered a naughty weekend?  A “Hook-Up” with no strings?
What does a woman do when she’s turning thirty? She takes a sexy weekend trip to Paris looking for commitment-free sex. Or, that’s what Davina Chalmers does, anyway.
Enter Johnathon a tall charming Englishman. How can she possibly resist his charm and that dimple?
But what starts out as a lark quickly becomes so much more. But how does one weekend become a lifetime? And how does a lie of omission bring everything into jeopardy?

Excerpt:

The waiter smiled and I sighed. “Time to go.” As I started to rise, gripping my bag in my hand, the bell above the door rang and I watched with interest as the sexiest man I’d ever seen entered. The cool blonde on his arm was scowling and he pried his fingers from her arm then walked away. For a moment, she wobbled on her stilettos before she sneered in her super chic French way only they can pull off and stalked out the door. It slammed so hard the panes of glass shuddered. The man scowled, but to be honest, it didn’t hurt at all. He was tall and well built. Blond hair with gray eyes.My mind screamed that this man that could probably satisfy my needs. He didn’t appear even slightly inebriated and he was obviously single now, if that little carry-on was to go by. Perhaps this was my chance? I smoothed down my black dress, making sure my cleavage was just peeking out, then I sucked in a deep, deep breath and stood, hoping to catch his eyes.

I watched the man stalk to the bar and order in perfect English-accented French. “Une bière, s’il vous plait.

My toes curled at his voice and the waiter hurried to do his bidding. Mr. Sexy’s voice was cultured and deep. I like voices, particularly men’s voices. They can make me go gooey at the knees, and this one warmed my insides to the consistency of thick, warm honey. And I knew he was the one I wanted to be with all night long.

The server handed over a bottle of beer and a glass, but Mr. Sexy looked at the bottle, grimaced, and then took a long pull.

The other men at the bar started talking in low voices, putting aside newspapers. They paid their money and left.

I didn’t want to think it was because of the dangerous aura surrounding the man. It was, after all, three in the morning. No, there had to be something else. But I was sure it wasn’t the time to ask these questions.
The small bar was quiet now as I was waiting alone with the mystery man. The waiter disappeared to the back. Obviously, with only two patrons left, he could do other things. I sucked in my confidence, folded it around me like a coat, and approached the man.

“Hi. Mind if I join you?”

He grinned and gestured to the seat beside him. I slipped onto the small stool, perched uncertainly. Then I wiggled my bum a little, thrust out my chest, and gave him my very best come-on smile.

“Looking for a hook up, are you?” His voice caused a curl of heat to gather deep inside me.
I nodded slowly. Better to be honest from the start, I thought. I didn’t have time to say a word. The next thing I knew, he had me thrust against the bar, his lips on mine and his tongue halfway down my throat. But man, what a tongue it was.

He played me like a violin until he lifted his head, casting a wicked smile in my direction. “Your hotel or mine?”

“Umm, yours.” Right now, I felt the rosy glow of arousal roaring through me. Sexy and quick to catch on. Yep, I was sure this guy was a winner.

“You’re not from around here, are you?”

I shook my head. “No.”

News!

Woot! It feels like ages since I've visited the blog!

Well, if you haven't seen my Facebook posts lately, you may not be aware that I've been super busy.  While I'm still working away on my Indian book, it has gone onto the back burner while I concentrate on the million and one things I have coming up.

But I have been writing.

Never fear! Imogene Is Here! (Sorry Dr Smith!)

Ahem... Back to my matter at hand. Yes, I have been busy. I'm working on a novella series (trilogy only thanks) which revolves around one family... On a planet far far away...

... I did say Planet....

Thank you... (Okay, so you may need to suspend belief a little bit...)

Enter the Ito Family of Reunion...

Back Story:

Renjiro and his cousins Kumi and Tomi are from one of the "best" families. They are the law makers and enforcers.

Reunion is a member of the Federation of Planets, a long time entity formed to support and reinforce the planets that are members. They've had an ongoing truce with the Independents (non aligned planets) until those planets made overtures to the Federation to allow them to join.

Not everyone is happy though and we have the rebels who refuse to join. These are the Indy's... Warriors. They are now defeated but pockets of resistance still exist.

The tales begin with Reunion - War's End.

Selina Codecko is an Indy Pilot… without the citizenship of the Federation, she’s treated like a second class citizen. But when she’s caught up in a brawl she’s arrested and in the hands of the Justice Officers.

Renjiro Ito has dreamed of a woman for five long years. As the Commander of the Justice Officers, the plight of one woman will turn his life upside down.

But there’s more going on than just the fate of one woman. The chances of a future together are slim, but they’ll take any chances that come their way. Will it be enough?

War's End is now contracted to Beachwalk Press... and has an expected release date of March 2014 (already I have 3 releases planned... I foresee another busy year!)

Book 2 is Kumi's Story... It's called Reunion - The Assassin and is ready for me to begin the pre-submission edits.

Book 3 is Tomi's Story... It's called Reunion - Executing Justice. Currently it's still in my head.

Okay that's the writing stuff out of the way, but as you've mostly guessed, I'm not a person to just do one thing...

Tomorrow my baby girl makes the transition from Student to Adult. Her last day of school will hopefully dawn bright (gee I hope these nasty storms go away) and she enters the next phase of her life.

Having indoctrinated her well, she's already confirmed her placement at Charles Sturt University to study a Bachelor of Information Management with a specialisation in Libraries.

Beginning at 10am tomorrow, we begin the path as I collect her from school... She has to ring the School Bell (Apparently it's a tradition with the Seniors) then we head home for little while before lunch and then begins the process of getting ready. Starting with hair, then make-up and finally dressing in preparation for her Formal (or as American's call it... The Prom.)

It all feels rather odd... Yes I will upload photos.

Youngest is going to have a night at home with movie of choice and takeaway... Not quite as nice as the dinner planned, but they have limited the attendance numbers.

We had to get her into the dress a couple of weeks ago as I had to make a small change to the strap on the back of the gown, so we did a make-up practice too. There will be some slight changes, but not too much...

Besides that, we are in the grip of Storm Season. Big nasty electrical storms are beating down on us, so we are trying to work around them and hoping for no floods this season.

Over the next few weeks, I will also be showcasing a range of other authors, through my association with Shades of Rose. Please take the time to have a look and comment.

Lastly, if you haven't yet signed up, pop along to my Facebook Release Day Party page for A Bar In Paris. It releases on the 18th November and is getting very very excitingly close!

So that's the latest news from me! Have fun and I'll catch up with you all really really soon!
