My Lucky Seven - Carrying on the tradition

Thanks to the fabulous Efthalia Pegios, I have been invited to participate in the Lucky Seven... So here goes...


The challenge. Post seven lines from an unpublished work of fiction. My current work in progress (WIP) is Starburst.  This is the final novel in the Warriors of the Elector Trilogy (but not the last story...)  It feels like it has taken forever, but I am finally past the halfway mark.

Anyway, it is the climax of the tale of my universe, several centuries into the future.  Jemma, Mellissa, Duvall, Grayson, Elara and Raven all turn up but the story is essentially about Meredith and Chowd.  Oh and we get to meet a couple of interesting characters as well.  New ones that you won't know anything about.

But anyway, onto the rules for the Lucky Seven...

•  Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript (fiction or non-fiction)
•  Go to line 7
• Post on your blog the next 7 lines, or sentences, as they are – no cheating
•  Tag 7 other authors to do the same

So without any further ado...here is my excerpt...  7 sentences from page 77

    Feeling pleased that two of his friends had found a profound love.  One he would probably never experience, and a section of his chest ached at the realisation. 

    Afterwards, the Senior Crew retired to the Duvall's office, the Ambassador having cried off, citing his distress still at the death of his assistant, Portia. Chowd had found the woman cloying but he understood the feeling of loss and he empathised with the Ambassador. 

    But today was a joyous occasion and no-one could find anything in his absence to concern them.

Here and back again - a writers tale.

Forgive me using the Hobbit title, but it seemed somehow, so appropriate.

Yes!  I am returned from Perth where I had a lovely time.  Caught up with old and new friends.  Ate and Drank lots of excellent Western Australian specialties.  Shopped and checked out the sights. And I edited Starfire.

Let me tell you, at the end of each day, my feet...well in one word...hurt!

I met the fabulous Carolyn Wren - here's the pic.  Now, just excuse the wild hair (mine) as we had just got back from lunch and shopping (I was sooo good cause I didn't buy anything that day!)  That came later.  The credit card is now going Owch! each time I look at it!

Anyway, so I went to Freemantle where I saw Bon Scott's statue:

(Bon Scott was the singer for AC/DC for anyone who doesn't know...that would normally include me too!)

I hung out with good friends:

Oh yes...and we are counting down the days to the release of Starfire (7 days boys and girls) and the biggest news???

Starline is now AVAILABLE IN PRINT!!  Woo Hoo!

And writing?  Well, I haven't really achieved a lot.  I am back to working on The Blood Bride, but I took a break last night.  Instead I decided to watch Farscape.  5 episodes - Back To Back.  How cool is that??  Yeah, Crichton bare chested... Crichton kissing Aeryn...  Uh huh!  Makes it all worthwhile really :D

Oh and we came home to 2 new chicks.  I'll upload pics of them later.  They look so cute in their Brooder Box.  One black (Obviously the English Game influence) and one yellow/white.  She is a wait and see.  But soooo cute!

More Cover Art :)

Yes, I've been very very good, hiding away in my office working.  In fact, I have been so good, I haven't yet shared my latest cover art for Star of the Fleet...

So here I am editing Starfire, worrying about edits of Star of the Fleet, and the fabulous Dawne Dominique hits me with this fabulous cover.  What can I say?

It is TOTALLY awesome!

Ah yes and to go with it is the updated Banner as well.  Watch out - this will be showing up in other places soon, too!

Apart from that, Blame the Wine is now being read over and I am working on 2 projects at once - The Blood Bride is finally back onto the screen and being edited (after discovering I lost the last 20 000 words somewhere...) and Beating Death (still on the working title there.)

I am looking forward to my break in Perth in about a week.  So I will only be putting up the odd post, here and there for the next little while.  On a really bright note, though, I will be catching up with the super fabulous Carolyn Wren (you are going to be hearing a whole heap more about her in the months to come!) who just happens to be my Critique Partner and also finalist in BOTH the Romance Writers of Australia Emerald competition (Category Title) AND the Daphne Du Maurier for Excellence in Mystery & Suspense writing.
