Gah! Chickens, Guinea Pigs and Kids...

What a week this last 7 days has turned out to be. Monday was a public holiday and thinking I still had days before my latest clutch of chickens hatch, darling hubby and I decided we would take the kidlets to the movies. Now it is a no brainer ... heading off to see the latest (and thankfully last) HP movie. A touch of shopping and heading home to ..... shock horror! our chick (only 1 in the incubator that looks like it was fertile) has hatched while we are out. Well, we think, the hen downstairs is sitting on a clutch but not due for another week. Best get it organised to be a lone chick. Wake up Tuesday morning to cheeping as the hen downstairs starts bringing out her clutch. Quick pop them in with the lone. At lunchtime there is more and again that night. In the end we have 9 chicks.

Hubby then declares the lady at work has found him 2 female guinea pigs so they added to our brood....what a week with our increasing animal count at Old MacDonalds Farm (or rather Frog Haven!)

Then we get a phone call, daughters are needed to practice photography on.....

Writing 2 000 words achieved (a little on the low side) but lots personally. *Sigh* hopefully next week will be more productive :)

Catch you all soon, hopefully with more and bigger news.

Travelling with kids

How many times have we said travelling with kids is difficult? Well after 2 days on the road with two teenagers we finally got to Cairns. Arrgghh! With one talking non stop and one singing, it has been a trial. To say the least....but eventually we arrived :) *phew*

Today I listed to Christina Aguilera, Pink, Eva Cassidy, Kelly Clarkson....now it has been an interesting mix I have to say. The highs and lows have included some songs with a subtext that the kids don't even understand yet sang the words to, and it put me in mind of a book I have read not too long ago with a storyline that while good used terms that didn't fit with the overall time line of the series.

Anyway, it has been highlighting to me the need to write books with text in the correct complex and timelines. So as I start re reading my manuscript, it is something I will particularly be looking for, words used in incorrect context and inappropriate to the timeline. So wish me luck.
